Q.
How can it be free?
Ans.
The site has been developed by a group of parents who understand the challenges faced by children through first hand experience with their own children. The site has been initially funded by their money. Eventually the day to day running and on-going support will be funded by sponsorship from appropriate and responsible organisations.
Q.
How does it work for teachers?
Ans.
Once registered, a teacher will receive a username and a password via email to log in to their own part of the site under the "Info for Schools" menu tab. A simple step by step guide then explains how to generate a data file from the Capita Sims system and upload it to MyRevisionPlan. Once uploaded students are able to register and enter the UCN number, this then populates their own unique planner with their own unique exam timetables and dates. If your school does not use Capita Sims, please contact us for details on how to upload your exam data.
Q.
Is our school's data safe?
Ans.
The data file generated containing all the exam details is not held on our system, but read into a secure database that is used by the system to populate planners with exam times and dates. The file is generated in an entirely transparent format so that you can see exactly what information you are uploading to us. Other than a unique candidate number and exam details, the only data held about individuals is that obtained through the registration process, which is the minimum necessary for the site to function.
Q.
How can I register another teacher to my school?
Ans.
Use the school registration process again, supplying the teacher's details. They will be added to the school, and no existing information will be lost.
Q.
The CSV file generated from SIMS doesn't seem to be formatted properly
Ans.
The CSV export does not produce a conventionally formatted CSV file, but the upload process is designed to work with it as it is. You should not need to alter the file in any way before you upload it.
Q.
I was using the pupil information in the admin section to check the student's planners, but this seems to have disappeared. What happened?
Ans.
After some debate, we decided that it was a security risk to display student passwords in the teacher admin section. We're sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause, but we hope you understand the necessity for the change.
Q.
Does the Teacher Console mentioned on the site mean that Teachers can see a student’s revision plan?
Ans.
No, the Teacher Console allows the Teacher to see a summary of the hours from the plan, not the plan itself. It allows them to analyse the number of revision hours planned per subject; how many hours have been missed etc. by student. They cannot see the individuals revision plan.
